economic Security4Women (eS4W) hosted two forums in the latter half of 2012: one in Melbourne and
one in Adelaide.
The purpose of the forums was to take forward issues raised by the ACTU Inquiry into Insecure Work in Australia. The audience was asked to consider the gender implications of insecure employment in relation to equal opportunity objectives, relevant public policies including education and social welfare, industrial relations, and the representation of women in insecure work within the union movement and other organisations.
One intention of these events was for women to contribute to the Insecure Work Summit to be held by the ACTU in Canberra (13 & 14 March). The purpose of the ACTU Summit is to build collaborations with civil society organisations based on the recommendations of the Independent Inquiry into Insecure Work.
