eS4W attended the launch of the Equilibrium Man Challenge and supported it on social media via Twitter #betterways2work @equchallenge.
The Equilibrium Man Challenge is a micro-documentary series that will follow the lives of a group of men as they negotiate and move to formal flexible working arrangements over a six month period. Throughout the journey, the program will explore the dynamic tension between the work, family and lifestyle interests of each man and will provide an insight into the inherent challenges of reshaping workplaces.
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency believes that in order for flexibility in the workplace to be mainstreamed, we must promote acceptance around men engaging in flexible working arrangements to ensure it is seen as a legitimate option for all employees, not just the domain of women with young children.
They will also be releasing a number of resources to help employers adopt a strategic approach to flexibility that sets business and employees up for success.
This exciting project has been developed by Parker et al and is made possible by sponsors Mirvac and Telstra, with the support of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Cisco and Diversity Council Australia.
